FahMon 2.3.99 Released

it.

For a comprehensive list of changes please view the changelog which is linked to from the homepage.

A bit of what's new in this release:

Removed WU info panel from default view.

Lots of performance changes.

You can now monitor clients via FTP and HTTP.

You can upload web output to an FTP server automatically.

What happened to 2.4.0?
As a result of the performance and memory fixes, a previously infrequent crash-bug has increased in
prevalence and will take more time to fix. Since this is still unlikely to occur often I'm releasing the
current code as it stands. 2.4.0 will be released as soon as this crash-bug is fixed.

FahMon 2.3.4 is now available for download. Please see the download page for details on how to get
it.

For a comprehensive list of changes please view the changlog which is linked to from the homepage.

What's new in this release:

This version fixes the nasty bug in 2.3.3 which cause clients to fail to update after non-specific
periods of time. This was caused by a typo in the update queue handler which now works properly.

CPU usage has been reduced slightly when refreshing clients thanks to a re-worked message logger.

clientstab.txt is now tab-delimited. This has no effect on FahMon, but may break compatibility with
other tools that read this file.

it.

For a comprehensive list of changes please view the changelog which is linked to from the home
page.

What's new in this release:

The client list view has been made much more configurable and additional columns can be added with a
right click on the column title.

You can now completely hide the WU Info panel on the right hand side of the main FahMon window.

Clients can now be managed from the main menu instead of a right click menu in the clients list.

Clients can now be manually disabled if you don't want FahMon to monitor them.

Paused clients can now be detected and shouldn't register as *hung*.

A number of debilitating bugs that affected GPU monitoring have been fixed.

FahMon on Windows now follows MS guidelines for storage of settings. This means no more problems with
UAC on Vista when downloading project updates.

Special thanks go to John Daiker for providing a number of patches to improve GPU2 support as well as
fixing the "quick-refresh" crash bug.

Lots of bug fixes in this release to make FahMon more stable, there should be
far fewer instances of FahMon crashing for no apparent reason, and CPU usage
whilst reloading clients has been decreased.

Several bits of data are now retreived using core code from qd (Queue Dumper)

 http://linuxminded.xs4all.nl/?target=software-qd-tools.plc.

Web output is now completely configurable thanks to a new templating system
which allows you to create custom output pages.

Project data fix for p3906

<dc:subject>Releases</dc:subject>

Since psummary appears to be displaying data that doesn't adhere to the "standard" we have come to expect
for reporting the number of frames for p3906, I've created a mini psummary page that will allow you to
update FahMon's internal project database with the "correct" data for this project.

Download 3906fix.html from http://fahmon.net/downloads/fixes/3906fix.html (Right click on the link and choose "save as". In IE, make sure the filename extension is "html" and NOT "htm")

Open up FahMon's preference dialog and go to the advanced tab.

Select the option to use a local file, and choose the 3906fix.html file you just downloaded.

Press OK

Manually update the project list, by using "Download New Projects" from the FahMon menu. This will
then load the local 3906fix.html file and update the internal database with the correct data.

Go back to the preferences dialog and deselect the local file option, this will ensure that your project database can still be updated correctly from psummary. Please note that if FahMon has to update the database from psummary you will need to repeat this process as it will overwrite the corrected values.

Ubuntu and PCLinuxOS packages for 2.3.1 up

<dc:subject>Releases</dc:subject>

I've just posted some precompiled binary pacakges for both PCLinuxOS, and Ubuntu (i386 and amd64).

The ubuntu packages were produced on 7.10 (gutsy) so they might not work on 7.04 (feisty). Judging by the wxgtk library used, I suspect they won't.

I did plan on releasing the SUSE and Fedora RPMs at the same time, but my SUSE installation is in the middle of a major system update, and my Fedora box appears to
have dropped off the network for some reason, so I'm going to have to go and work out what it's doing before I can make any fc7 packages.
